Schools & Daycare
Big Sky is home to the Big Sky School District #72. This K-12 School District is located on Highway 191. Ophir Elementary and Middle School have been open since 1906, while the Lone Peak High School opened in 2009. Morningstar Learning Center provides full-time daycare/preschool in Big Sky. Located in the Meadow, MLC has worked with local families and their children since 2007. Also based in the Meadow is the Big Sky Discovery Academy. It was formed in 2014 and is a Montessori-based Pre-K through High School.

New & Improved Flights To BZN
The Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport is certainly a busy place. Did you know that there are now 21 destinations with direct flights to BZN? It’s growing quickly and that means it’s easier than ever to fly to Big Sky Country.
In 2019, 1,573,860 passengers flew through the BZN airport . That’s a 17.3% increase from 2018. But more importantly 2019 marked the 10th “consecutive year of record-breaking passenger traffic.” The Bozeman airport accounts for “a third of all airline passengers traveling to and from Montana” (ExploreBigSky.com).
As the airport continues to grow, it also means new and improved flights. Below we’ll shine the spotlight on some of the new and/or improved flights to BZN:
- JetBlue Airlines will introduce direct flights to Boston (BOS) beginning June 11, 2020 and direct flights to New York’s JFK (JFK) beginning June 13, 2020. (ExploreBigSky.com)
- Delta AIrlines will convert seasonal Atlanta service to year-round daily service beginning July 6, 2020. (ExploreBigSky.com)
- Alaska Airlines will upgrade the planes on the Seattle-Bozeman flights starting May 21, 2020. The current planes seat 76 passengers, and the new planes will have either 123 seats or 150 seats. (BozemanDailyChronicle.com)
- Sun Country Airlines will offer twice weekly service from Minneapolis to Bozeman beginning June 3, 2020. (KBZK.com)
- Allegiant will begin offering direct flights to Bozeman from Nashville starting May 21, 2020. (WKRN.com)
This is big news for SW Montana. To help with the increase in traffic, the Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport also received a $4.1 million grant from the Federal Aviation Administration to build a new airport apron (BozemanDailyChronicle.com).
