According to a press release from Big Sky Resort, the ski resort will add 250 additional parking spaces by the 2019-2020 ski season. They will also increase the shuttle capacity by 50%. More free parking is always a good thing!
This parking improvement is phase one of a Big Sky’s “long-term parking plan to add over 500 parking spaces near the ski slopes.” This first phase will be located just downhill and east of the current lot. The press release notes that “Skiers will have a choice of walking the short distance to the slopes, or taking the parking shuttle system.”

On the topic of free parking, next year’s season passes are already on sale. For the 19/20 ski season Big Sky Resort’s Gold Season Pass holders will have 144-days of skiing and unlimited tram access, but they will also have preferred parking privileges.
The Gold Pass Parking Lot will reserve 200 spots in lots A through E of the current parking lot. These spots are available to Gold Pass holders on a first come, first served basis until 11am.
